Spoken word Artist, Rapper, Song writer. Traveler, Business Owner Geneiva Arunga aka Dadabassed is a spoken word artist poet and Rapper. Although she has been writing poetry since the age of 8 she started preforming professionally in 2004.Her first festival performance was Umoja Festival in the summer of 2004. For years Dada wrote and preformed poetry and even conducted workshops on writing and preforming in many parts of America and Kenya East Africa where she was born, and attended some school. Dadabassed natural progression from poetry was rap also known as rhythm and poetry. In 2013 Dadabassed released her first single Black as they Come garnering over 800,000 plays worldwide. She has spent time since traveling the globe preforming this song her poetry and other songs off her upcoming EP entitled “Taste Maker” . In Seattle Dadabassed has had the honor of preforming at EMP for One Vibes Madaraka Festival, Seattle Centers Folklife Festival 2015 and Langston Hughes Preforming Arts Center for Black Friday Celebration. In Nairobi Kenya Dada has had the honor of Preforming at Alliance Francaise for Poetry Slam Africa, Micheal Joseph Center for Pomoja Concert, and Pawa 254 for Fatumas Voice. She has made music and collaborated with musicians In Kenya ,Seattle, London and other parts of the world and continues to do so in her upcoming projects. In london for two weeks pictures to follow. Just got back from working on some new material. I was working with two producers silvastone and standish child amazing producers working out of a place called White Hut Studios in croydon London. Such amazing talent in these men it was my honor. Of course i met up with my girl Iona McCreath designer and chaperone to the stars. Just lunch and drinks in the city with another friend of hers. Lovely time!

Dadabassed is a spoken word artist and Rapper. Working with Arunga Music under the tutelage of Owuor Arunga. Born in Kisumu, Kenya and raised in Seattle,Washington from the age of eight she has been writing and preforming on stages locally in her Seattle community, and around the globe. Geneiva has been writing poetry and raps for the purpose of bringing people together and addressing various social issues, and for having a good time. Geneiva returned to Kenya in 2006 as a high school exchange student of Cultural Reconnection Institute, and attended Ombogo Girls Academy, and Kisumu Girls School, there she learned how to harness her musical energies and started thinking of the business. With total dedication she has thrown herself into her music starting with her EP she gives you an introduction to her rapper side laced with reminders of her poetry roots.
